It was a really windy day on the north end of Yellowstone Lake when we visited. You really had to lean into the wind when you were exposed to the bare shore. Back among the trees the wind was reduced to a nice breeze that kept you cool. This photo is from a small cove sheltered from the wind looking just about due south.
