Pahoehoe lava flows from Pu'u O'o crater have cooled in this case the cooled lava looks like billowy scarf hooked on something in a breeze.

Still molten lava can be seen through the cracks. This is the last in my series of lava shots from Hawaii.

Magma from Pu'u O'o crater flows through a lava tube at a considerably quick clip and this narrow skylight allows a glimpse.

This skylight allowed a directly overhead look into a lava tube. The heat and smell of sulfur was almost overpowering even though we were a good hundred feet above.

Pahoehoe lava forms lobes over top of itself as it slowly pushes forward, cools, and then pushes forward again.

Another skylight in the Pu'u O'o lava tube system. This skylight resembled some sort of cauldron, kiln or furnace. If you look closely you can see the heat distorting the air.

A slightly more distant shot of the skylight in "Natural Forge". This area reminds one of the gates of hell. Lava, heat, sulfur, and treacherous terrain make for unforgiving environment.
